Iconic moment
Baker's Coming-Out Party
A year before he'd win the Heisman, Baker Mayfield quarterbacked Oklahoma to its ninth Big 12 title and a spot in the College Football Playoff, capping an 11-win regular season that included a signature road win at Kansas State and a two-overtime thriller at Tennessee. The magic ran out in Miami, though, where Clemson's defense throttled the Sooners in the Orange Bowl semifinal. Still, this was the season that made it clear Mayfield — and Lincoln Riley's eventual offense — was going to be must-watch football for years to come.
Big 12 champion (9th title); lost CFP semifinal to Clemson in the Orange Bowl 17-37. Baker Mayfield's breakout year before his Heisman season.
