Iconic moment
The Boz and the Best Defense in the Country
Led by the swagger of Brian Bosworth and a defense that posted five shutouts on its way to leading the nation in every major defensive category, Oklahoma bounced back from an early loss at Miami to win its final ten games. The Sooners closed the year by blowing out Arkansas in the Orange Bowl, finishing third nationally on the back of one of the most dominant defensive units the program has ever fielded. It's the season "Sooner Magic" wore a mohawk and talked more trash than anyone in the country.
Defense recorded 5 shutouts, led nation in all 4 major defensive categories. Only loss was at Miami (16-28).
