One loss all season, and it came at home to Miami — a defeat that stung but never derailed the larger picture. Switzer's Sooners steamrolled the rest of the schedule and closed it out by beating Penn State in the Orange Bowl to claim OU's sixth consensus national championship. This is the "Coronation at the Palace on the Prairie" era in its purest form: dominant, occasionally vulnerable, and always finding its way back to the top of the mountain.
