Redemption at Kansas's Expense

A stunning 23-3 loss at Kansas midseason looked like it might sink the whole campaign, but Oklahoma turned around and dismantled everyone left on the schedule, Nebraska included, to claim the Big Eight crown. Lee Roy Selmon's Outland and Lombardi-winning season anchored a defense that shut down Michigan in the Orange Bowl for Switzer's first bowl win. A late-breaking assist from UCLA, which upset top-ranked Ohio State, sealed OU's fifth national championship.

Only loss was mid-season at Kansas (3-23). Beat Nebraska for Big 8 title, then Michigan in Orange Bowl.
