Wilkinson's Last Ride

In his seventeenth and final season roaming the Oklahoma sideline, Bud Wilkinson's Sooners knocked off a top-ranked USC team on the road before a heartbreaking loss to Texas in the Red River Shootout took the wind out of a promising campaign. An eight-win season was a quiet way for a legend to close out an era that had included three national titles and the 47-game streak. Wilkinson's retirement marked the true end of Oklahoma's first golden age.

Wilkinson's final season as head coach before retiring. Only losses were to #2 Texas and at #10 Nebraska.
